It is important that the total alkalinity and total hardness of the pool water are measured periodically. The ideal range for calcium hardness is between 100 and 300 ppm. Total alkalinity should measure between 80 and 120 ppm. Deviation from the recommended ranges can cause the pool water to be either corrosive or scale forming.
