Description

U.S. MOTORS AQUA-SHIELD ASQ260 EZ48 Pool/Spa Pump 48Y ODP Square Flange Motor 2.6THP 230V 60Hz

The U.S. MOTORS ASQ260 is an AQUA-SHIELD EZ48 Pool/Spa Pump 48Y ODP Square Flange Motor. It runs at 2.6THP, 230V, and 60Hz. Square Flange Pump Motors are the most common motor frame used today. These frames attach directly to the pump.

The ASQ260 is a 2.6 Total Horsepower (THP), 230‑volt, square‑flange, ODP pool/spa pump motor from U.S. Motors’ Aqua‑Shield EZ48 series. It’s a direct replacement for many high‑performance pumps that use a 48Y/56Y square‑flange motor—commonly Pentair, Sta‑Rite, Waterway, and others.

Specifications

  • Total Horsepower (THP): 2.6

  • Voltage: 230V

  • Frame: 48Y (square‑flange)

  • Motor Type: ODP (Open Drip‑Proof)

  • Speed: Single‑speed

  • Rotation: CCWPE (counter‑clockwise pump end)

  • Mounting: Square‑flange, 4‑bolt pattern

  • Series: Aqua‑Shield EZ48

  • Use Case: In‑ground pool pumps, spa pumps, high‑flow systems

 Compatibility

The ASQ260 is designed to replace motors on pumps that use a square‑flange mount and require 2.6 THP. Common compatible pump lines include:

  • Pentair WhisperFlo (WF‑ series)

  • Pentair Challenger High‑Flow

  • Sta‑Rite Max‑E‑Pro (square‑flange versions)

  • Waterway Executive / Hi‑Flo

  • Aqua‑Flo Flo‑Master (select models)

  • Many aftermarket high‑flow pumps

 ODP vs. TEFC

This motor is ODP, meaning:

  • Air‑cooled

  • Vent openings allow airflow

  • Not sealed against moisture or heavy splash

If your equipment pad is exposed to rain or sprinklers, a TEFC motor may be a better long‑term choice.

 Replacement Notes

When installing a new motor, you should also replace:

  • Shaft seal (specific to your pump model)

  • Housing gasket

  • Diffuser o‑ring

  • Pump lid o‑ring (optional but recommended)

A worn shaft seal is the #1 cause of premature motor failure.
