“How does a salt system work?” you may ask. A salt system creates chlorine used in the disinfecting process and makes it from ordinary salt. It only needs a very small amount at a time, about one teaspoon per gallon of pool water to create an endless supply of chlorine through advanced electrolytic technology. This environmentally friendly and self-renewing process produces a large amount of chlorine a day, enough to keep the water in a 15,000-gallon pool clean, clear and luxuriously soft.

There are two components to  Aqua Rite: the control box and its patented Turbo Cell. This cell is a specially designed electrolytic converter that installs on your system’s return line, behind the pump, filter, and heater. As pool water passes through the Turbo Cell, an extremely safe electrical charge generated by the control box automatically converts the dissolved salt into fresh, pure chlorine. The water is then dispersed evenly throughout the pool by the return jets. Each time the water is recirculated, the salt-based chlorine gets recharged and the cycle is repeated.

Hayward manufactures their Turbo Cells in three sizes which are 15,000, 25,000, and 40,000 gallons making sure that you have the right sized salt chlorination for your pool. Providing three separate sized salt cells gives you the ability to select the correct size for your system while also receiving the most cost-effective chlorination possible. With this in mind however, it is advised to upsize the cell whenever possible to prolong its lifespan but also ensuring the ability to quickly increase the production of chlorine as is needed.
